An Internship is typically defined as ‘work experience within an organization for a limited period of time in order to gain experience’. Though Internships were more common in medical schools, the term now applies to the placement of a pre-employment candidate in businesses, NGO’s and Government Agencies.

Typically, an Intern is a student or graduate who wants to gain a relevant skill or experience in a particular field.

Employers benefit from Intern placements by:

1.      Developing a pool of potential recruits for future recommendation/placement/employment

2.      Developing best practice potential in cultural Internships

3.      Developing best practice frameworks that can be taken out and used in other places of employment

While Internships can be managed by third-party organizations, the Human Resource department of a Business or Organization can recruit interns directly through advertisements. In the case of Dharma Shakti India, we will recruit our Interns directly, using an assessment and evaluation process.

An Internship with Dharma Shakti India is similar in many ways to an Internship in any professional career with the difference being Dharma Shakti India chooses to intentionally include Vedic principles that govern our ethical framework, and to develop culturally aware Interns, particularly for placement in Dharma Shakti service centers in particular, and Indian based NGOs in general.

An Internship with Dharma Shakti India will vary according to the experience an Intern has and the societal needs at the time of commencement of the Internship Contract. All Interns will be residents in our Life of Pi Homestays and will work in collaboration with Life of Pi Volunteers.

The duration of an Internship with Dharma Shakti will vary but will invariably not exceed 6mths.

Dharma Shakti India has core focus issues that are consistent in our Life of Pi: Practical India Volunteer Program. An Internship with Dharma Shakti India involves the oversight and management function over the various Volunteer projects:

Eradication of Poverty
Women’s Empowerment
Health
Education
Environmental Sustainability

Dharma Shakti India Interns will be guided and accountable to Dharma Shakti India Management and Advisory, and responsible for the Oversight of Life of Pi: Practical India Volunteer projects, including the human resource.

Dharma Shakti India is concerned with maintaining Vedic roots in Bharat, and by developing Business and Social frameworks that reflect Santana Dharma values we make our commitment to that endeavor.
