Dharma Shakti India facilitates an International Volunteer program that matches our Volunteers with suitable societal projects in the Life of Pi: Practical India projects.
We work with small children, young girls, women, and men to find ways and take control of their lives.
In line with our core interests – the Life of Pi projects offers our Volunteers positions to support the Eradication of Poverty, Women’s Empowerment, Healthcare, Civic Sense, Public Education and Environmental Sustainability in India. We are offering volunteers the opportunity to work within these core areas providing practical support to execute specific aims that include Recycling projects, Water-care, Roadside and Under Bridge beautification and maintenance, Horticulture, Public Awareness of Current Issues, Teaching Sanskrit & English, and Women’s Health-Care & Support Services. The range and frequency of projects is dependent on local societal demand and the availability of International and Local Volunteers. We are founded and based in India and registered as an NGO with the Government of India. Our services are targeted to benefit the marginalized societies of India using the collective energy of an international Volunteer workforce; and are guided by the Vedic ethos of care for humanity and the natural world. It is our intention to take this philosophy of social service out of India and into societies that require similar levels of support.
Dharma Shakti India offers our Volunteers live-in accommodation, 2 meals per day and transportation to and from their assigned project work for the duration of the project. Remuneration of living costs is by way of donation. Flights to and from India are the individuals responsibility. Dharma Shakti India can assist with Volunteer Sponsorship letters and any matters of concern upon arrival in India. Our Life of Pi Homestay is located in spectacular Jammu; and we propose to open Life of Pi Homestays in every state of India as we grow our network.
If finding yourself in a work crew planting trees, being a part of a waterway or roadside clean-up crew, developing public awareness projects, teaching in a village, establishing sustainable or recreational gardens and parks, sounds like something you might enjoy for the love of experiencing the Life of Pi, we encourage you to make contact with Dharma Shakti India.
Volunteers are also able to take advantage of time off in their schedules to check out the local regions and transfer to other Life of Pi localities as they are developed across the states of India. If you would like further information, please send an email to Dharma Shakti India (see Contacts at the end of this article) and put Life of Pi in the subject line.
